Philippe Starck imagines a fairy-tale library where books seem to float up towards the light. The Bibliotheque Nationale Floor Lamp wraps three cantilevered shelves around its stem, each rotating freely to hold books, a phone or small personal objects, while the tall diffuser above spreads a soft, even glow across the room. The name is Starck’s playful nod to France’s national library.
The base and stem are chrome-plated die-cast zinc, and the outer diffuser comes in clear or smoke-grey methacrylate, soft ivory PVC fabric, or an aluminized bronze coating. An integrated dimmer and a discreet USB port make it as practical beside a reading chair as it is sculptural in a living room.
