A shimmering light bulb sits on a brass socket with a pull switch, yet only the socket and switch are real. Holonzki, created by Eckhard Knuth and Ingo Maurer in 2000, shows the bulb as a glass hologram, lit by a small spot at the end of a slender rod. It is a fascinating use of hologram technology that never fails to amaze visitors.
Each hologram is made by hand and carries its own signature: its colour cannot be chosen, shifting from red to green in saturation with the humidity of the room. A black textile cable completes the piece, which hangs on the wall like a small work of art and adds its glow quietly to the room.
