24 Karat Blau Flat, designed by Axel Schmid in 2021, is the newest and flattest member of the 24 Karat Blau family. An acrylic glass panel with cast-in gold leaf hangs directly in front of the bulb. The wafer-thin gold lets only short-wave blue light through, so the light point takes on a bluish shimmer, while warm golden-yellow light is reflected back onto the wall for a wonderfully warm atmosphere.
One luminaire offers many possibilities: with optional additional panels, arranged and aligned as you wish, 24 Karat Blau Flat becomes an individual work of art, from a single gold leaf to a whole illuminated mural. Axel Schmid has been part of Ingo Maurer’s creative team for more than two decades and designed the earlier models in the series.
